Hi, I'm Elder Aidan Harrop. I've been service in the New Zealand Wellington Mission from December 2022-2024. I have loved serving in the beautiful country of New Zealand. My mission has made a big impact on my life. There has been so many things that has helped me grow to in character through knowledge and experience. But the one thing that has given me the most impact that will change my life forever is gaining a witness that the Book of Mormon is true.
To give you a run back of my life, I've been born and raised in Utah and into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Throughout my life, I believed in God and Jesus Christ. I've had some experiences that has helped me to believe. Years went by and I open my mission call. I was so excited to serve, yet as the day got closer and closer to going to the Mission Training Center, I found myself in a spiritual crisis.
I had some mental health issues and I couldn't feel the spirit nor God. So my testimony, my belief in God was hanging on a thin string. Nevertheless, I still chose to go, because I believed that God was there and that He'll be with me while on the mission. I also hadn't read through the whole Book of Mormon before my mission.
So as my mission went on, I did my studies and also studied and read the Book of Mormon. As I did so, I found either a verse, passage, or chapter that has answered a question that I wish I knew earlier in my life. It has changed my perspective of life. It has expanded and enlightened my mind to the mysteries of God. It has helped me to know more about my Savior and His character.
But the most impactful thing that the Book of Mormon has given me is that I know without a shadow of doubt that God and Jesus Christ are real, because if the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Having a testimony of that is life changing and brings peace and comfort to the soul.
It took some time to receive this testimony. However, it is definitely worth it to have that testimony. I promise to those who will read and study the Book of Mormon, will gain the same things that I have received. It's worth seeking for. For every time I look at the Book of Mormon, it's the closest that I'll get to see the Savior with my own eyes and feel peace and power in my life.
